Ah the pie; a true staple of classic British cuisine in all its glory. And what better way to celebrate this succulent dish than dedicating an entire week to cooking, eating and promoting the best pies around with British Pie Week?

Starting back in 2007, the festivities begin on the first Monday of March and last for a full 7 days. If you fancy cooking up something a little different at home over the next few days, there’s no better time to get involved than 2014’s British Pie Week.

Here at Ovenu we do love a good pie, that’s why we thought we’d share four of our most favourite and delicious recipes to whip up this year. There’s a little something in here that’s sure to tickle almost everyone’s fancy.

It’s undoubtedly been one of the biggest television hits of the last few years, and it gets bigger and better each series, leaving anyone who watches talking about who got through and what they baked during their next day’s coffee break.

While many people watch with envy and think they’d never be able to bake some of the masterpieces seen on the show, for those brave few of you who want to give it a bash in your own kitchen, this post is for you. We’ve selected our top five cakes from this year’s Great British Bake Off and given you instructions on how to make showpiece cakes that Paul and Mary would be proud of. BrowniesMmm… chocolate, an indulgently sweet treat that many of us enjoy regularly (sometimes a little too regularly). At least Chocolate Week, which runs from the 14th to the 20th October, gives us a completely viable excuse to indulge ourselves in devouring the luxuriously delicious confectionary.

Did you know that from the 16 to 22 April it’s National Bread Week? Now in its 12th year, Briton’s from all over the country dedicate this week to highlighting the wonderful versatility of this staple food.
