Ovenu LincolnFormer newsagent Geoff Plummer is set to clean up in Lincoln after establishing his own professional valeting firm, Ovenu.

Geoff, 48 will now manage and direct the operations of the business that will serve businesses and households throughout Lincoln and the surrounding area.

Geoff, who used to work for local government, owned his own newsagents and convenience store in Newark for two years before deciding to run his own oven valeting franchise.

Since being founded in 1994, Ovenu’s environmentally-friendly service has attracted over 60,000 customers a year. The franchise model has been successfully replicated around the world, including Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

The valeting service involves dismantling key components of an oven and placing them into design-registered equipment, which uses non-caustic products to clean the oven parts. The whole process takes around three hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition.

Geoff said; “I was looking for an opportunity to continue to be my own boss as there was growing competition from larger supermarkets and the high street affecting my convenience store. Oven valeting is not something I had considered before until I saw an advert for Ovenu.

“After doing my research I found that Ovenu had an established franchise model and with over 100 franchisees I knew there would always be some one at the end of the phone if I ever need any advice.”

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director of Ovenu, said: “It’s great to have Geoff join our team. He is an enthusiastic and hard-working man who will soon have lots of clients.

“As he has run his own business before I am sure he will get off to a great start. As a company we are growing and expanding into new areas. With the right business acumen and commitment, Ovenu can provide a very successful business opportunity for budding franchisees with high growth potential.”

Rik HellewellOvenu, the professional oven valeting firm, has achieved the internationally recognised ISO9001, for the fourth consecutive year becoming the only business in its sector to hold this important accreditation.

This independent assessment was conducted by the British Assessment Bureau a leading Certification Body and demonstrates Ovenu’s continuing commitment to customer service and quality in delivery.

Ovenu has now again earned the right to display the coveted British Assessment Bureau Quality Shield and ISO 9001 logo to demonstrate its conformance to the standard.

ISO 9001 was first introduced in 1987 and requires organisations to demonstrate that they do what they say they do and that they have a quality management system in place to ensure consistency and improvement; leading to high levels of performance and customer satisfaction. Certified organisations are committed to continuous improvement and are assessed annually to ensure progress is being maintained.

The ISO accreditation for Ovenu also sits within their franchise system. Having over 100 franchisees within the UK, the ISO 9001 certification ensures all franchisees are uniformly trained to the same standard which is not only essential for consumers but also for prospective franchisees who want to know proven management systems are in place.

Ovenu has shown that its key successes, which have proven so popular with householders, are its specialist valeting process, reliability and process controls.

The benefits of registration to the ISO9001 standard include:-

  • Streamlining an organisation’s procedures.
  • Bringing consistency to an organisation’s service delivery.
  • Reducing cost and rework.
  • Improving an organisation’s management practices.
  • Enhanced status.
  • Competitive advantage.
  • Lower insurance premiums.

The Ovenu valeting process involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, fan and shelves and placing them into design-registered equipment, which uses non-caustic products to clean the oven parts.  The whole process takes around three hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition.

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director of Ovenu said, “We are particularly pleased to have achieved ISO9001 accreditation again as it underlines our commitment to our customers and our focus on quality. We are also unique in our industry sector having done so.  Not many customers get to see their suppliers’ ‘back-office’ activities, this recognition demonstrates we can provide a quality solution from quotation to delivery.”
