Crowds are expected to flock to the county this weekend in a bid to tempt their taste buds with a celebration of British dishes.
The popular festival is now in its third year, and once again the event looks set to serve up a treat for all visitors.
As if a celebration of British cuisine weren’t enough, the festival takes place on the stunning Shugborough Estate, an ideal setting in which to relax and take in the weekend’s events.
There will be a host of stalls showcasing culinary creations and an array of activities to delight those attending.
An exciting mix of 80 top local and artisan food producers, combined with hot and cold food and countless activities, makes this year’s programme a true recipe for success.
Here are some of the activities on offer.
Man vs Food
Those who feel up to a challenge can take part in the Man vs Food competition. The challenges are bigger, better and more strenuous than ever before, so why not pop along and sign up on the day to see if you’re fit for the ultimate eating challenge?
Could you give Mary Berry a run for her money? Showcase your baking skills by entering one of the cake-offs.
These take place at 1.30pm each day and give you the chance to show off your baked delights.
Budding bakers even receive free entry to the cake-offs and have a chance of winning a top prize.
Kids’ Cookery Classes
Do your little ones have a passion for pottering around in the kitchen?
Young guests have a chance to get creative and involved in fun and educational cookery classes at Kidz Kitchen.
They get the chance to whip up their own exciting dishes and even take them home with a number of classes running throughout the festival.
Kids will learn to create a host of exciting dishes and desserts in 45-minute classes over the weekend.
All places must be booked online in advance or at the Information Point on the day.
Learn from the professionals and see how they conjure up exciting dishes.
There will even be an opportunity to receive advice from top local chefs, so you can experiment in your own kitchen and really impress at your next dinner party.
Among the top chefs attending is the 2014 MasterChef competition winner, Luke Owen.
Luis Tryano, the Great British Bake Off finalist, will also be attending and sharing his best-kept baking tips.
Meanwhile, top chefs from a number of local restaurants will be showcasing their favourite dishes and offering guests tips and advice. Come and watch the masters at work whilst learning how to become a culinary genius in your own right.
Adults’ Cookery Masterclass
It’s not just the little ones who have the chance to prepare their own exciting dishes: adults can too!
Don’t miss out on the chance to join top Indian chef Amarpal Harrar from iCookIndian! The workshops run throughout the festival and explore how a number of popular Indian dishes are made.
With a host of food and drinks stalls to feast your eyes on, live music throughout the weekend and plenty to see and do for all ages, this year’s Great British Food Festival is set to be a rip-roaring success.
